Taranaki lies on the West Coast of the North Island, equal distances between Auckland and Wellington. Taranaki enjoys a temperate climate with abundant rainfall, and a population of approximately 121,000 people, with just over 28,000 of them residing in South Taranaki.
Protected by breath taking and snow-capped Mt Taranaki, steeped in historical significance and boarded by a 300km coastline of ragged surf beaches, Taranaki offers a smorgasbord of outdoor recreation from the mountain to the surf with numerous parks in between, as well as a vibrant arts and crafts scene both within the city and throughout the region.
