Area details

Bream Bay is a locality and bay on the east coast of New Zealand. All of the areas that make up Bream Bay are reached under a two-hour drive from Auckland. ‘Bream Bay’ is loosely used as a collaboration of the three towns that satellite the main metropolitan areas which are Ruakaka, One Tree Point and Waipu. The actual bay itself spreads from the mouth of the Whangarei Harbour (Bream Head), 22 kilometres south, to the southernmost point of Waipu Cove (Bream Tail). The area also consists of three native reserve islands located just off the coast of Bream Bay - The Hen and Chickens Islands and Sail Rock. Several attractions are found in the Bream Bay area including Ruakaka Racecourse, Waipu Golf Course, Waipu Caves, Waipu Museum, and Marsden Cove Marina and Café. Capturing a wonderful coastal and country lifestyle, Bream Bay has experienced steady growth and is a popular choice for holidaymakers and permanent families too.
