This 203 hectare farm offers diversity of income through the large area of maize and oats ground, the additional land for other crops, the area planted in trees and the grazing land used for young dairy heifers, beef and sheep.
This property is located in the popular farming district of Waitetuna, approximately 30 kilometres from the Hamilton town boundary and midway between Hamilton and Raglan. Waitetuna is both a well-regarded farming district with cropping, dairy grazing, dairying, fattening and grazing properties in the local area plus an emerging and growing lifestyle location.
Approximately 30 hectares of this property are planted in maize and oats, 93 hectares are used for the grazing of dairy heifers, beef and sheep, 74.5 hectares are currently in pines - of which 14 hectares have been harvested this year - and the balance is in native bush. A further 20-30 hectares of the farm is suitable for further cropping such as brassica's.
Currently the farm production includes the 30 hectares used for maize and oats plus 100 dairy heifers or cattle are on the farm from May to May, an additional 360 cows are grazed on the oats for six to eight weeks in June and July plus 160 ewes.
This picturesque property is well-tracked (some rock and metal comes from the farm), it has a good fertiliser history and it also has a quality and reliable spring-fed water supply.
The farm water supply is from the spring to a 30,000 litre tank and then gravity fed via a range of 20mm to 32mm line to the troughs. There are two troughs in all the hill paddocks.
Domestic water supply is from the house roof to 45,000 litre storage tank with backup supply from the farm.
Annual rainfall is approximately 2000mm.
The farm has good infrastructure including a half round barn, a three stand wool shed with yards, additional cattle yards with load-out and two hay barns. The majority of this infrastructure is centrally located on the farm.
The farm is arranged into approximately 25 paddocks plus holding paddocks at yards. There is a central laneway on the farm and metal and brown rock from the farm has been used on the main race.
Fencing is the traditional 7 wire post and batten on the hill country with three quarters of the boundary deer fenced. Electric wires and tapes are used through the cropping areas.
The farm soil type is a mix of Topehaehae silt loam and clay loam soils on the easier rolling contour and Porirua sandy loam hill soils on the moderately steep to steeper land towards the western side of the property.
